2. DELETION OF PREINSTALLED WORDPRESS CONTENT
Once WordPress is installed on your domain, you’ll want to clean it up and begin optimizing the installation for Google searches. First you’ll want to delete some preinstalled content that is simply a placeholder. This content is found on each new install of WordPress and includes:
• Hello world post
• Sample page
• Possible sample comment
Access this content and delete it. To do that, simply login to your new installation of WordPress and access “posts” and “pages.” These are located on the left-hand navigation.
After clicking “posts,” you’ll be taken to a page that includes all the posts within the website (after installation you will see the default “Hello world post”). Simply hover over this post, and you will see several options including “trash.” Click on “trash” and the sample post will be sent to the trash can.
Next you’ll want to perform the same action for “pages.” Again, click on “pages” and you’ll be taken to an overview page that lists all pages located on your site. After installation you will see “sample page.” Hover over “sample page” and again click “trash.”
Auto-installed Plugin Deletion
Just as there is some pre-installed post and page content with each WordPress installation, there are also some plugins that offer no functionality. I recommend you delete them as well.
To do this, click on “plugins” on the left-hand navigation; doing so will take you to a page that features all the plugins available on your site. The plugin named “Hello Dolly” offers no real functionality and thus can be deactivated and then deleted.
